Well 4th edition dropped this past week and I was wondering if anyone had picked it up and played with it yet? And if so would you be willing to write up a short review on it for the Podcast? I haven't had time to go pick up a copy myself as of yet. |

Well I have sort of played it last weekend ... A friend of mine is running an event here so he had all the gm and players sets (you know, the pre made characters the minis and the like) ... but we really didn't end up getting into the systems part of it ... I don't think we rolled a dice all night.
From the look of it the system looks vastly more user friendly than before. Almost if someone told the designers that you really didn't want to feel like an idiot just because you didn't major in character design and advanced shopping strategies ... But really it seems more dynamic with people having things to do every turn (specially at low levels) and having a really nice set of options even as a level one character.
I'll see if I can get a commentary from my friend though (he's been at this for a while and I think he pretty much has the thing summed up).
*rant on*
First impressions looked great ... except for the fact that it's still D&D ... and it still says it's an RPG on the cover which kind of kills it for me. It's one of the few things that I'm more strict (or stubborn) about. Nothing kills my experience like a system that kicks the Monarda law in the crotch and calls it names afterwards (which is a reference to my comment on the podcast).
*rant off*
Take care,

So 4th Edition doesn't have bards..... or gnomes.
That leaves me and VD out. VD though is a human rogue, so he still has a chance... |

I've taken a brief look at the rules and they seem alright. Haven't had a chance to playtest it or anything. |

I've had a few games of 4th with ChaosEvoker. It seems to me like it could get alot more people involved with D&D which is good. But as a matter of personal prefrence Im going to stick with 3.5. |

I've been hearing a lot of that lately (the sticking to 3.5 part) and I would like to know what your particular reasons are. I've read quite a bit about it and there does not seem to be a particular focus on the complaints.
By the way, this is out of pure curiosity. I generally dislike D&D, including the latest edition, so I'm not trying to initiate a hot debate.

my pre-teen daughters want to start a game. They have never played but are curious about it. They have played battle lore and liked that, so I talked about d&d. So is the 4.0 rules easier to start with? I have a complete set of 2.0 ad&d books.
Thanks in advance for any help projected.
